Can anyone remember that bloke on the radio who had a section where he'd tell a tragic story to the strains of some melancholic music? Well, that's going round in my head now as I re-write this player profile. An all-rounder (pardon the pun) who fights a constant battle with his weight, this self confessed 'George Best' took things to a whole new level over the 2006/07 close season. A booze filled Christmas and New Year finally caught up with Jon and his liver resulting in 2 weeks of urinating claret. Thankfully, he seems to have made a full recovery and is well and truly 'back on the boddle', hanging out with his best mates Jack Daniels, Jim Beam and the Glens - Fiddich and Morangie. After starting the 2007 in breath-taking form with the ball, a combination of rained off games and a shin injury curtailed his bowling exploits, although Smith still finished the season as the top wicket taker and an superb economy rate of under 4 an over. Strengths: - economical bowler Weaknesses: - Booze, fags, loose women Interesting fact: - Starting losing his hair at the tender age of 14
