I was hoping Ashford would write this match report……..

I'm just hoping I can remember what happened……..

Our first league match of the season was against Hope Harriers who haven't won a game for three years……..

The Harriers have got no hope of winning this one we all thought……..

But they were hoping for a change in fortunes……..

With some early wickets the Old Boys were hoping for a small run chase……..

But Hope still had their best batsmen to come……..

We hoped and prayed that a couple of dropped catches wouldn't come back to haunt us……..

The opposition were hoping to bat us out of the game with some big hitting……..

HOB outfielders looked on hopelessly as the ball sailed over their heads for maximums……..

Set 161 to win Henleaze were hoping for a miracle……..

We were all hoping that the new look opening partnership of Davies and Barrett would get us off to a good start……..

But we didn't get off to the start we were hoping for……..

Some middle order smashing from JS Smith and MD Serjeant gave us hope……..

But it was left to the lower order for a bit of hit and hope……..

Come the end we were 37 hopeless runs short of our target……..

I just hope we haven't lost the league before it's started……..
