Henleaze Old Boys v Whicheloe
Tuesday 3rd June 2008 at The YMCA, Golden Hill

There are three things in this world I definitely don't know. I don't know how Forbes pulled a hammy after all that stretching. I don't know how to catch when Mr. Barrett is bowling, and I don't know Janet. I do know however that one of her sons was caught by this guy (scroll down) and another put in a top m.o.t.m performance that resembled this guy. For all the positive anxiety the league has caused us, it was just damn disappointing that we had to play Whicheloe, who in fairness put up a fight like these guys. Even this guy couldn't help.

Put into bat, Phil and Ed started it and Mike and Tom finished it on a pitch that truly could be called a sticky wicket. 158 runs in between were amassed by some lovely shots, Jon ran himself out again and there were some huge sixes to end it all off. Considering HOBs think of themselves as a non batting side, this season has already proven otherwise. Viva la willow.

It was then the turn of the opposition to chase down a top number, but batting like this guyin a 20/20 game ain't going to get you lots of wins. Or batting bonus points to be realistic. Mr Ashford took a hatrick of types of dismissal, knocking some stumps down, two catches and a wicket. Bravo. It was then left to the rest of the bowling attack to endure backward defensive shots. Oh joy. And so to end a short story quickly, we won, it was easy, and in the words of captain Smith, "they were shit". Three wins on the trot and we don't even know if were top of the league. But if we are or were not, we should all be feeling like this guy.
